Start with a country
Uganda for gorillas, chimpanzees and the source of the Nile. Rwanda for Volcanoes National Park and the shortest way in. Kenya for the Maasai Mara and the migration. Tanzania for the Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Kilimanjaro.
Gorilla trekking
Rwanda charges USD 1,500.
Uganda charges USD 800.
Bwindi and Volcanoes National Park sit in the same volcanic chain. The rules are identical: eight people per family, one hour, seven metres. What changes is the price and the forest.
In April, May and November the Uganda permit drops to USD 600. That is USD 900 less than Rwanda for the same hour with the same families, and Kigali is still the closest well-connected airport to southern Bwindi.
