Wild Route Trips

Why travel with us

Wild Route Trips is a Uganda-based safari company. We plan private safaris across Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi, chimpanzees in Kibale, the river crossings in the Maasai Mara, the Serengeti and Kilimanjaro.
What you can count on

What travelling with us
actually means

Planned around you

Your dates, your pace, your budget. Every safari is private and built from nothing, so no stop is on your itinerary because it suited a group.

Permits secured first

Gorilla permits for Bwindi and Volcanoes sell out months ahead in high season. We check them against your dates before anything else is decided.

One guide, start to finish

The same guide meets you at arrivals and is still there on the last morning. You never have to explain yourself twice.

Straight answers before you book

Which walk is genuinely hard. The months permits cost less. Whether ten days would be a better trip at seven. While you can still change it.

It starts with a conversation

Tell us roughly when you can get away and what you most want to see. You get back a route, a price with nothing hidden inside it, and an honest view on whether it is the right trip for you. Nothing to pay to find out.
Private by default

Your trip, not a brochure's

Most safari itineraries you can read online were written before anyone knew you existed. Yours gets written afterwards.
We start with how you want the days to feel. How early you are willing to be up. How far you want to walk. Whether two nights somewhere worth staying beats one night in four places. The lodges, the drives and the order of the parks follow from that.
Add Rwanda to a Uganda trip, stretch the Maasai Mara into the Serengeti, or cut a day you were never sure about. There is no group to fit around, so changing it costs a conversation.

When the day changes,
someone is already there

Roads flood. A permit moves. A flight shifts and the back half of the week has to be rethought before lunch.
The people who planned your trip are the people running it, so that gets solved where it is happening rather than in an inbox eight hours away. Most of the time you hear about it once it is already sorted.
It is invisible on a trip where nothing goes wrong, and it is the only thing that counts on one where something does.
What happens next

From your first email
to the last morning

Most people are three or four emails from a finished itinerary. Nothing is owed at any point before you say yes.
01

Tell us roughly when. An approximate month is enough to start. On a gorilla trip the permit is what fixes your dates, not your flights, so availability gets checked before anything else is decided.

02

You get a route, not a package. An itinerary written for your dates, your pace and your budget, with the costs itemised so you can see what each part of it is for.

03

You change it. Longer, shorter, different lodges, another country. Every departure is private, so there is nothing to renegotiate and nobody to ask.

04

We hold what sells out. Permits and the lodges worth having go months ahead in high season. Once you are happy, they are secured. No deposit before that point.

05

You go, and the same people are running it. Whoever planned your trip is reachable while you are on it, and the guide with you has the authority to change the day if it needs changing.

Where we go

Where we'll take you

Uganda for gorillas, chimpanzees and the source of the Nile. Rwanda for Volcanoes National Park and the shortest way in. Kenya for the Maasai Mara and the migration. Tanzania for the Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Kilimanjaro. Plenty of trips use two of them.

Start with a date

Tell us roughly when you want to travel and what you want to see. We check what is genuinely available against those dates and come back with an itinerary and a price with nothing hidden in it.
